Screws to remove to gain access to the tail light assembly
Once you have all the screws circled in red removed you should be able to pull the side covers and the black tail cover over the tail light assembly.

Obviously it will take a little effort to get them off without breaking any of the tabs that help hold them in place. I ended up pulling the two black screws in the top of the rear tail piece before I realized that this rear assembly did not need to come apart completely for removal, that is the reason they are pictured separately.
